Launching and Running a Project Team

Learn how to build, maintain and motivate a successful project team

Project team’s are unique organisational constructs. Many, or all, members are part time, with other operational responsibilities and with bonus and salary managed by their ‘home’ function or department. Given this, it can be hard to keep team members on track and motivated.

In this session you will explore how to ensure a project team’s momentum is maintained until completion.  You will explore the nuances of building and managing your team effectively, adopting the right project leadership style and using feedback processes to improve performance.

The session will provide you with proven tools, techniques and tips and give you the opportunity to discuss your issues and develop practical solutions.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to launch a project effectively so that a team identity is built
  • Understand how to adapt their leadership style by assessing the team’s skill and motivation levels
  • Understand how internal context is vital to the project team’s motivation. This could involve taking a broader responsibility for project staff, e.g. training and development
  • Understand why project leadership is as important as project management
  • Balance how much time is spent facing in to the project and out to the organization
  • Understand how giving and receiving feedback is vital for development and tension release
