Controlling a Project: Octopus SCQERT

A set of simple and effective tools, techniques and behaviours that will keep your project on track.

Defining a clear plan and engaging project team members and stakeholders creates a great foundation for any project. This, however, is where the hard work of monitoring and keeping the project on track comes in. Many projects start well only to descend into fire-fighting if things are not kept under the right level of control.

Successful project managers apply a range of hard and soft skills to drive real progress. They push back against time wasting and scope changes, solve the right problems and communicate relentlessly.

This short, practical and highly interactive course provides participants with a range of simple tools and processes, which can be used to monitor, control and communicate progress. From our SCQERT change scoping tool, to project radars these are practical, ‘road tested’ and successful techniques.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Create the structure & processes required to capture & report project status efficiently
  • Use the status reporting process to maintain and keep track of stakeholder commitment
  • Understand and apply the process for risk & issue management
  • Learn how to handle scope changes positively & firmly
