Agile Project Management

A radically new way to organise work, which drives efficiency, effectiveness and team satisfaction

Agile is a relatively new approach to project management which can also be applied to changing departmental working practices. It has been proven to increase productivity by as much as 400%, dramatically slash costs and reduce required effort. The approach has been adopted by a broad spectrum of organisations, ranging from Google to the FBI.

This course introduces participants to the basic roles, processes and tools that make agile such a powerful business tool. The course will focus on a flavour of Agile called Scrum which is applicable to a broad spectrum of business situations (not just software development, where Agile originated).

The course uses a combination of brief lectures, exercises and broader cases so that participants will walk away with a good understanding of Scrum and how to apply it to their work.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the basic principles underlying the Agile approach
  • Identify the difference between Agile and traditional project management
  • Define the roles and underlying mindset required to make Scrum a success
  • Run the activities involved in kicking off and operating a Scrum team
  • Apply the key tools which underpin this lean and efficient way of working
